The John Stuart Mill College was founded by three faculties belonging to VU Amsterdam:
- VU Faculty of Humanities
- VU Faculty of Social Sciences
- VU Faculty of Economics and Business Administration
Each member of the core PPE teaching staff is embedded in one of these faculties.
