Akshath Jitendranath is a PhD Candidate and Junior Lecturer at the John Stuart Mill College and the Philosophy Department of the Faculty of Humanities at VU Amsterdam. He holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the Symbiosis International University, Pune (India) and a MA in Philosophy and Economics from the Erasmus University Rotterdam (The Netherlands).

Akshath’s primary research interests are in questions at the intersection of philosophy and economics. In particular he is interested in moral and political philosophy, and individual and collective rationality. His PhD focuses on the formal literature on rights and freedom. This work focuses on the role of the concept of preferences in both the conceptualisation of freedom and rights, and the measurement of freedom of choice.
