Lieven Decock (1970) is Professor of Logic and Philosophy of the Cognitive Sciences. He graduated in Philosophy and in Theoretical Physics and obtained a Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Leuven. Before joining the philosophy department at VU Amsterdam, he held temporary positions in Leuven and Tilburg. He is professor with prominence in teaching. Since 2013 he is director of education and member of the Board of the Faculty of Humanities.

Decock’s research focuses on cognition and reasoning. His work is characterized by an interdisciplinary methodology; philosophical conceptual analysis is combined with formal techniques and empirical methods. He has published in leading philosophical journal such as Mind, Noûs, Philosophy and Phenomenological Research, Philosophical Studies, and many others. Moreover, he has published in various interdisciplinary journals and edited volumes, such as Behavioral and Brain Sciences, Philosophical Psychology, Review of Philosophy and Psychology, Journal of Philosophical Logic, Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence, and Phenomenology and the Cognitive Sciences.
