Internationally renowned VU Amsterdam researchers who work at the cutting edge of their areas teach the courses within our PPE programme. Many of these lecturers are themselves trained in more than one discipline and do multidisciplinary and/or interdisciplinary research, and each one is firmly embedded in one of the three founding faculties of the John Stuart Mill College.
The senior PPE staff teaches our courses in collaboration with junior lecturers. Junior lecturers are working on a doctoral dissertation in the area of philosophy, politics and economics. These joint teaching/researching positions allow for a mutually beneficial exchange between junior professional academics and bachelor students. You benefit through instruction that is directly tied to dynamic, motivated researchers.
Furthermore, renowned scholars and/or policy makers from inside and outside the Netherlands will be involved as visiting lecturers in the courses and seminars of the second and third year. This not only serves to further contribute to the realization of the ‘connected classroom’ and to facilitate the incorporation of the most recent research developments, but also enhances the policy-oriented nature of our PPE courses.
