Campus VU Amsterdam

Campus development

The VU Amsterdam campus is developing continuously to make it a more sustainable place to work and study: new sustainable research, new university buildings, while old buildings are refurbished to improve sustainability.

Campus of today

VU Amsterdam’s central campus of today in the Zuidas district features all facilities for teaching and research. It is also an easily accessible metropolitan meeting place thanks to its Zuidas location in the immediate vicinity of Schiphol Airport. The Zuidas district is the business district of Amsterdam, so that during your studies you can also get a glimpse of the business world. Being a true part of Amsterdam, VU Amsterdam is an international community that works together with knowledge partners, civil society and business.

Campus of the future
VU campus of tomorrow - impression

The urban campus is currently under development and is being moulded to meet the demands and needs of the modern day. New teaching and working styles are taking shape now and in the campus of the future in the foyers, open-plan offices and coffee corners. With the arrival of on-campus student housing and an extensive sports and cultural programme, the campus is becoming a city within the city.
